Policemen responsible for Port Said safety to be detained in Egypt

PanARMENIAN.Net - Egypt's Prosecutor-General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud has ordered the detention of Port Said’s security chief and head of police investigations after Wednesday's, Feb 1 deadly riot in the city.

Seventy one people died and hundreds injured when fans of the home side Masry stormed the pitch following a 3-1 over Ahly at the Port Said stadium.

Security forces have been accused of failing to intervene to stop the clashes.

Thousands of angry protesters have started a march on Thursday, Feb 2 afternoon from several points in Cairo to the ministry of interior to protest police conduct, Al Ahram daily newspaper reported.
