COOPERATION BETWEEN ARMENIAN AND RUSSIAN REGIONS DEVELOPSOctober 7, 2003 - 22:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - An Armenian delegation headed by governor of Ararat region Alik Sargsian is in the Astrakhan region of Russia. Representatives of business circles and Armenian parliament deputies are among the delegation members, "Arminfo" agency reported referring to "Avers" agency. Further prospects of cooperation, including the issue of creation of a joint venture for production of Armenian brandy in Astrakhan, are expected to be discussed. The parties also intend to cooperate in culture and tourism. In the course of the meeting with Astrakhan region governor Anatoly Guzhvin Armenian delegation members discussed opportunities of development of North-South transport corridor, which can also include Armenia-Iran-the Caspian-Astrakhan directions. It should be noted that the accord between the Astrakhan and Ararat regions on commercial-economic and cultural cooperation was signed in 2001.
