Slovakia makes excuses for ex-MP Miklosko’s visit to Artsakh?February 15, 2012 - 19:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Slovakia Embassy in Moscow commented on Azeri hysteria over the recent visit of the former member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Frantisek Miklosko to Nagorno Karabakh. “Miklosko’s visit to Karabakh was an entirely private initiative,” the statement said. “A former MP and politician, the head of Slovak National Council under the Czechoslovak government in 1990-1992, Mr Miklosko occupies no official posts at present,” the Embassy noted. Current visit not being Miklosko’s first one, the ex-MP travelled to Karabakh in May 2010. Earlier, Miklosko described Nagorno Karabakh Republic as a normal democratic country. “Karabakh must develop ties with countries in the fields of culture, education and religion,” the official said, calling on the West to extend assistance to foster strengthening of Karabakh’s statehood and economy. Mr. Miklosko further hailed maintenance of Christian values in NKR, in contrast to Europe, that has already forgotten them. Dwelling on programs implemented in Karabakh through assistance of Slovak enterprises, the politician dubbed the situation in the region rather unfavorable for investors “in face of possible war with Iran.” “However we will keep initiating project, hoping for appropriate perception of human values by the international community,” he concluded.
