Israel to deploy drone interceptor

PanARMENIAN.Net -

Israel Defense Forces will deploy an Iron Dome missile interception battery in central Israel this week, as part of a drill simulating a medium-range rocket attack, Haaretz reported.

IDF officials said that the deployment of the battery is part of a yearly drill that was scheduled ahead of time.

The IDF Spokesperson said in a statement that the Iron Dome system is currently being tested, and for this reason the battery is deployed in different areas throughout the country. "This week, as part of the military absorption plan, the battery is deployed in the area of Gush Dan for several days."

Recently, Military Intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi has said that some 200,000 missiles and rockets are aimed at Israel from enemy countries, but that Israeli deterrence has worked.

"We are facing a more hostile, more Islamic, more sensitive Middle East," the MI chief said - one "less given to international influence" and facing "permanent instability."
