PanARMENIAN.Net - Within the past year 2028 emergency situations were registered in Armenia. As a result 231 persons were killed, 1788 suffered. As reported by the press service of the Armenian government, these data are provided in the 2003 report presented to the cabinet of ministers by chief of the Emergency Situations Department (ESD) of Armenia Hamayak Aroyan. According to the report, the ESD pays special attention to preventing fire and has analyzed each case, due to which 1200 private persons and 1800 functionaries underwent administrative reprimands last year. Besides, work is being done to integrate all rescue services of Armenia and promote cooperation with other countries and international structures. According to the ESD leadership, this is illustrated by the search of the MIG-29 pursuit plane that crashed in the mountains of Armenia, held in cooperation with Russian colleagues, as well as rescue works in Iran after the earthquake. The ESD work was evaluated as satisfactory within 2003.
