UEFA president: World Cup in Brazil will be different

PanARMENIAN.Net - FIFA has made no secret that World Cup preparations are behind schedule, with stadium constructions one of the main concerns of the governing body, goal.com reports.

There are also several other issues such as ticket sales and prices, security, broadcasting rights and a ban on alcohol inside stadiums, problems which both the Brazilian government and FIFA have had their fair share of quarrels over.

"There are divergences in every World Cup. This also happened in 1998, when we had problems with ticket sales, some clashes outside stadiums, and it is natural that this is happening now, too,” UEFA president said.

"My advice is that Brazil remains focused. See what your main goals are and what you can get from hosting a World Cup. And try to reach your goals. You cannot please everyone. The situation in Brazil is different from the one in France [in 1998]. The World Cup there will be different. Not better, not worse. Different. Brazil must respect its characteristics, while attending to FIFA's demands. There is always room for talk."

Platini also praised the fact that former Brazil internationals Ronaldo and Bebeto are part of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the World Cup.
