Expert: elections in Russia won’t affect Karabakh process

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Caucasus Institute director forecasts escalation of social-economic tension following the presidential elections in Russia.

“Vector will remain unchanged with comparably fewer opportunities for foreign policy implementation,” Alexander Iskandaryan said.

Dwelling on the impact of Russian presidential elections on Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, the expert foretold no direct influence or change.

He further expressed disbelief in Vladimir Putin’s victory to bring about Robert Kocharian's comeback to politics, noting that the situation after the elections may affect major economic projects in Armenia, such as railway or nuclear power plant construction.
