Paper says RPA proportional list lacks female candidates

PanARMENIAN.Net - The proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia is “lacking women”, Zhoghovurd paper’s sources say.

According to the Electoral Code, a female candidate should be nominated in each sixth position of a proportional list.

So, now RPA is seeking relevant female candidates to run for the parliamentary seats, the source says.

Party spokesman, vice-speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov refuted these rumors to a paper’s reporter saying women account for over half of their party members.

“All of them are good, supporting RPA’s ideology,” Sharmazanov said adding they do not face such a problem.

Why, in this case, RPA is actively involving singer Shushan Petrosyan, DJ Vakcina and other women, the paper wonders.
