Volkswagen to boost car sales in Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Germany’s major car manufacturer Volkswagen plans to raise its sales on the Russian market by ten to 15 percent to 250,000 cars a year, Director General of the Volkswagen Rus Group Marcus Osegowitsch said, according to ITAR-TASS.

In 2011, the company sold 233,000 cars of the German brand in Russia, he said.

In April-May, Volkswagen will make a decision on the construction of an engine plant, Osegowitsch told reporters on the sidelines of the 15th conference titled “Russian Automobile Forum.”

An he noted, the company has to decide between four regions of Russia as future construction sites.

Based on earlier reports, Volkswagen’s engine plant may be built in the Kaluga or the Nizhny Novgorod region.
