Canadian Scholars Signed Petition on Issue of Destruction of Armenian Monuments in Nakhichevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - About 2,500 archeologists, historians and academicians took part in the convention of the American Archeological Institute's 107th annual convention held in Montreal on January 5-7. The conference was a good cause for representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation's (ARF) Canada Youth Union and Armen Garo Student Union to present the issue of barbaric destruction of Old Julfa Armenian cemetery and khachkars (headstones) in Nakhichevan by the Azeris. Dr. Clair Lyons, who was presiding over that section of the convention, urged the participants to sign a protest petition addressed to the Canadian Foreign Ministry, reported the Yerkir newspaper.
