REPRESENTATIVES OF PRO-SHEVARDNADZE CAMP SPEAK OF US ARMENIAN LOBBY IMPLICATION IN LATEST EVENTS IN GEORGIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - The US Armenian lobby played not the last role in the latest events in Georgia. One of the leaders of "For New Georgia" pro-Shevardnadze bloc, leader of the National-Democratic Party Irina Sarishvili holds this opinion. Today's issue of "Moscow Komsomolets" newspaper cites the following statement made by her: "the Armenian lobby, aiming at reorienting transport and energy corridors of Georgia to the territory of Armenia, had launched activities in Washington, but Shevardnadze hindered those plans." It should be reminded that even before the election leaders of the Georgian opposition Mikhail Sahakashvili and Nino Burjanadze were accused by their political opponents in being "not pure-blooded," i.e. in having Armenian origins. Meanwhile, in a conversation with "Azg" newspaper correspondent the third leader of the Georgian opposition - Zurab Zhvania, who does not conceal his Armenian descent from his mother's line, denied the rumor regarding his companions-in-arms having Armenian origins.
