The government highlights implementation of programs aimed at development of remote regions of the country.
In the framework of a project approved in 2009, the Armenian government has subsidized AMD 300mln to Tamara Fruit CJSC for planting of organic gardens. The initiative will help Tamara Fruit boost export volumes. As of today, 20 hectares of organic gardens were planted. A similar agreement is pending in the RA Ministry of Agriculture.
French Minister of Economic Recovery Plan and President of the General Council of Hauts-de-Seine department, Mr. Patrick Devedjian said that Hauts-de-Seine will allocate 500 000 euro annually for Armenian rural areas development. Implementation of programs started in 2004 in cooperation with Hayastan All Armenian Fund. The delegation led by Mr. Devedjian arrived in Armenia to get acquainted with the work carried out.
A financial research center will be established in Dilijan. Constructions works are supposed to be accomplished till the end of 2012, with opening scheduled for early 2013.
To protect the regions from hail, two hail suppression systems were installed in Armavir region. Another 40 stations are scheduled to be set under a governmental program.
Another constituent of the country’s development is tourism. As Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said en route to Tavush region, Apaga-Tour rest facility in Yenokavan village may serve as a good example for tourism development in Armenia’s regions.
Thus, Armenian authorities are decentralizing the country, in an attempt to improve territorial administration through creation of mechanisms of financial leveling, local budget growth and reduction of population outflow from remote and frontier regions.
