EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy commented on possible replacement of France in OSCE Minsk Group.
Stefan Fule noted that the European Union supports MG efforts, whilst rendering it pointless to speak on France’s replacement.
According to him, the EU is considering a new proposal package on boosting trust between parties to the conflict. He stressed establishment of humanitarian contacts as the key goal of the initiative, Aze.az. reports.
Earlier Stefan Fule noted that EU may activate efforts aimed at assisting in conflict resolution, particularly in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
EU also stands ready to hold events aimed at boosting trust between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
On March 23, European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted a document on Armenia, proposing to replace France’s mandate in OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement with that of the European Union. The document is to be put to vote at European Parliament’s plenary session supposedly in a month.
