Elections in Armenia will present both new challenges and opportunities, head of Regional Studies Center said.
Richard Giragosian noted that the authorities face the task to conduct better parliamentary elections than before, stressing the need for Armenian President’s and Prime Minster’s pledges to be implemented.
“Armenia currently pursues active foreign policy, which brings it political dividends. If authorities fail to hold proper elections, Armenia is sure to lose the confidence. However, if elections are conducted on high-level, domestic stability will enable it the country to further intensify foreign policy,” the expert said, calling for focusing on parties and political institutions instead of individuals.
