Amazon.com Inc. launched a website aimed at business, scientific and commercial customers in the market for tools, lab and office equipment and a broad range of other supplies, AP reported.
AmazonSupply.com allows commercial customers search categories such as fasteners, power transmission equipment and vehicle maintenance supplies. Previously, they had to use Amazon's flagship, consumer-facing website to do so.
Separately, the company's Canadian arm launched a website selling baby items, called amazon.ca/baby. It already has a baby store in the U.S.
Having distinct online stores could help Amazon attract customers who might not think to go to the retailer for specific products like twin sport strollers or hazardous waste cabinets.
