The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer for “Lawless” a new film starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce and Jessica Chastain, The Wrap reported.

The film, based on the novel “The Wettest Country in the World,” is set in the Prohibition-era South and revolves around a pair of brothers in charge of a bootlegging gang.

John Hillcoat, who helmed "The Road" and "The Proposition," is directing.

It will premiere at Cannes next month and opens nationwide August 31.
