ARMENIAN CONSUL TO GEORGIA LEFT FOR TSKHINVALI TO CLARIFY SITUATION WITH ARMENIANS GOING TO HOMELAND FROM RUSSIA
Yesterday Armenian Consul to Georgia Artur Sargsian left Tbilisi for Tskhinvali to familiarize himself with the situation the Armenians, who were going to Armenia from Russia, faced in the region of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, Regnum news agency same to know from the Armenian Embassy in Georgia. To note, Georgian law enforcers stopped several dozens of Armenians and cargoes at the post of Ergenti (at the gateway of Tskhinvali) on their way from Russia to Armenia through unrecognized republic of Southern Ossetia. Let us remind that the Armenian citizens - many of them are women and children - who during the recent several days have had no opportunity to cross the Georgian-Ossetian border, tried to enter Georgia via the South-Ossetian sector of the border because of Russia's closing Verkhni Lars checkpoint at the Russian-Georgian frontier.
