US CONGRESSMAN: IN CASE KERRY WINS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, US WILL RECOGNIZE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
In case Senator John Kerry is elected US President at the forthcoming election in November, Washington will soon recognize the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915, US Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) in an interview with the Public TV Company of Armenia. In his words, if the US recognizes the Armenian Genocide, Turkey will have to end its "forgetful" policy. At that the Congressman noted that the US recognizing the Genocide is a matter of time and the day will come when Turkey herself will recognize it. Upon John Kerry's election as President the Congress will soon adopt the respective resolution, A. Schiff added. Turkey follows a wrong policy by refusing to acknowledge the Genocide instead of recognizing the facts and moving forward, which will have a favorable impact on the Turkish economy and will relieve Armenia from the continuing destructive blockade, the US parliamentarian noted. In his words, recognition of the Genocide is the best option for all parties of the problem. "I am resolute and I pledge not to spare efforts for the Armenian Genocide to be recognized by the US as soon as possible," A. Schiff emphasized.
