LAWYER, REPRESENTING INTERESTS OF ARMENIAN OFFICER KILLED IN BUDAPEST, NOT OFFICIALLY NOTIFIED ABOUT TRIAL BEGINNING
Nazeli Vardanian, representing the interests of the family of Armenian officer Gurgen Margarian, killed in Budapest, was not officially notified about the beginning of the trial of Margarian's murderer Azeri serviceman Ramil Safarov. This is specifically stated in a letter of the Armenian Ombudsperson L. Alaverdian addressed to Hungarian Parliament Ombudsman Barnaba Lenkovich. N. Vardanian has come to know about the date of the process from the press two weeks before the trial beginning. The fact has caused dissatisfaction in Armenia.
However, the Hungarian Ombudsman did not answer L. Alaverdian's letter. The reply was written by his deputy, who noted that the Ombudsman does not have the authorities to interfere with the trial. The response letter assured that the trial would be impartial.
