Current Syrian authorities headed by President Bashar Assad are doomed to failure, Arabist said.
“Achievement of success by government forces will only protract the conflict. Assad’s resignation will be the final settlement of the problem,” Sargis Grigoryan told a press conference.
The expert further cited strong external pressure on Syria and the superpowers’ unchanged stance on the country to prove Assad regime’s failure.
“Current fierce fights for Aleppo are the consequences of opposition’s policy aiming to transfer hostilities to major cities,” Mr. Grigoryan said.
Dwelling on Syria’s future, the expert believed it impossible to predict what forces will come to power after Assad’s overthrow, due to the disagreements among the opposition forces.
