“Harry Potter” helmer to direct “Tarzan” reboot

David Yates has signed up to direct Warner Bros's Tarzan reboot, Digital Spy said citing Vulture.

The Harry Potter filmmaker committed to the Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation earlier this week and has meetings scheduled with potential lead actors.

Charlie Hunnam, Alexander Skarsgard and Man of Steel star Henry Cavill are to hold talks with a view to joining the movie.

Warner Bros is also said to be keen to meet with Dark Knight Rises actor Tom Hardy, but it is unclear whether he would be interested in the title role.

The Tarzan reboot has been in development for some years with Ocean's Eleven producer Jerry Weintraub overseeing its development, and Craig Brewer once attached to direct.

Burroughs's John Carter was adapted for cinema last year, but was a commercial flop, costing Disney in the region of $200 million.
