Facebook offers midnight delivery service for New Year’s Eve

Facebook social network has set up an automated system that will enable its users to write their New Year's greetings now, and they'll be sent automatically as soon as 2013 arrives in the time zones of the user’s friends, mashable.com reported.

The Midnight Delivery service, is part of "Facebook stories," a relatively new magazine-like area of the site the company started back in August.

Initially meant to highlight some of the more heartwarming human-interest tales to emerge from Facebook usage across the planet, Facebook Stories has pivoted in recent months. It has become more of a destination for interactive features, such as your Year in Review.

Midnight Delivery suggests friends users might want to send New Year's greetings to; however, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to those suggestions. Many Mashable staffers reported their midnight delivery recommendations included friends they haven't spoken to in years, if at all, on the social network.

In other words, maybe Facebook is doing its part to ensure old acquaintance should not be forgotten.
