Young Australian actress Adelaide Kane (Neighbours) has landed the lead in the CW drama pilot Reign, Deadline said.

The project, from CBS TV Studios, chronicles the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots (Kane) when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis, and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. It details the secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue.

Brad Silberling is directing the pilot from a script by Stephanie Sengupta and Laurie McCarthy.

This marks the 2nd major U.S. TV casting for WME-repped Kane, who has a major recurring role on upcoming Season 3 of MTV’s Teen Wolf.
