ARMENIAN GENOCIDE CONFERENCE AGAIN CANCELLED IN TURKEY
One of the Turkish courts has complied with the suit of the Union of Lawyers of Turkey and barred conduction of the Armenian Genocide Conference titled "Ottoman Armenians in the period of collapse of the Empire" and scheduled for September 23. Originally the conference was scheduled for May 25, 2005 however it was postponed, since Turkish Minister of Justice Cemil Cicek called the idea "the dagger stuck into the back of Turkish nation." Some people voice opinion that Turkish historians are oppressed and deprived of the possibility to express their scientific viewpoint. The majority knows that the conference was barred over the possibility of discussion of the Armenian Genocide issue. Presently the conference initiators are considering further steps, reported IA Regnum.
