17th century church collapses in Armenia

Saint Hripsime Church collapsed on March 9 in Sevanakar village of Syunik province. According to RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, a regional rescue management group departed for the site of occurrence.

As village administration head Arshavir Hakobyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, though no victims were reported, the neighboring house was damaged.

“There was a large crack in the church wall, the snow melted, and the church immediately collapsed. We addressed several state institutions, however, they told us to find a sponsor,” Hakobyan said.

The church was built in 1663.
