Darchinyan won’t step aside for Donaire vs Terrazas bout

Manager Frank Espinoza said that Vic Darchinyan (38-5-1, 27KOs) will not step aside in order for Nonito Donaire to get the opportunity to face WBC super bantamweight champion Victor Terrazas in October, BoxingScene reported.

Espinoza was responding to an earlier article on BoxingScene, where Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum had stated that Donaire may possibly remain at 122-pounds and face Terrazas in the fall.

Darchinyan, the NABF champion, is the top WBC contender at 122 and first in line for a crack at Terrazas' title. Darchinyan will make his Top Rank promotional debut on May 11th against Javier Gallo at the Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo, Texas.

"Vic earned his postion and he wants to get that first shot at Terrazas. After he wins the title, then he would be more than happy to fight Donaire in a rematch. I even saw something on your site a few days ago where [promoter] Fernando Beltran said the Terrazas-Mijares winner would have to fight Darchinyan next," Espinoza said
