The existence of an opposition is a serious factor for the development of the country, leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said. “Those holding rallies in Liberty Square deem themselves initiators of a new political function, while people return home in despair,” Galust Sahakyan said, adding that the opposition forces failed to bring facts about election violations in the past year.
“The opposition blames the authorities for its own failures. It will be difficult for us to retain the victory gained without an opposition,” he said.
Dwelling on the observers’ assessments, the RPA member said “they lack facts and keep repeating the opposition’s statements.”
He further slammed the opposition’s remarks suggesting the country faces tough times as a factor pressing for new flows of emigration.
