Gas prices to rise in Armenia?

ArmRusgasprom CJSC plans to issue an application on the upsurge of gas prices to Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

Despite the fact that commission spokesperson Mariam Stepanyan didn’t confirm the media reports, the paper considers the information reliable. It’s noteworthy that the country’s officials said over the past months that the gas price upsurge is discussed with Russia.

The gas price maintenance was mainly linked to Armenia’s political situation, particularly 2012 parliamentary elections, 2013 presidential and city council polls.

The price of one thousand cubic meters of gas is likely to be set at USD 247, which is by USD 67 or 37% higher than USD 180 tariff.
