The hike in gas and electricity prices will bring about inflation risks. On June 10, MP Artashes Geghamyan asked the chairman of Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) Arthur Javadyan as to the steps the bank takes to neutralize the risks.
Mr. Javadyan forecast about 2,5% inflation, noting the tough monetary policy as the only solution to the current situation.
“Apparently, this will result in slower GDPA growth rates,” he said.
On June 7, the Public Services Regulatory Commission set AMD 156 as the new price for 1 cubic meter of gas. The decision will enter into force on July 7.
