The head of Health Ministry’s Immunization National Programme refuted rumors of measles epidemic in Armenia.

“So far, there have been 4 confirmed cases of measles, with the disease contracted from Georgian citizens in 2 instances,” Gayane Sahakyan said.

As she noted, the spread of the disease was curbed in Armenia due to prophylactic measures, with Georgia posting decreased cases of measles staring from June 14.

As she noted, those planning a holiday in Georgia needn’t worry. “Those who’ve already had measles or were inoculated at least once are immune," she said.

According to medical sources, those who've been inoculated more than 10 years ago are less likely to have retained antibodies and might be in need of another vaccination.
