U.S.-Armenia Task Force on Economic Cooperation Session Held in Yerevan
On February 17, Minister of Finance and Economy Vardan Khachatryan and U.S. Ambassador John Evans chaired a mid-term review session of the U.S.-Armenia Task Force on Economic Cooperation (USATF), the U.S. Embassy's press office told PanARMENIAN.Net. The two sides discussed the state of progress of the September 2005 USATF Action Plan and formally signed the document during a brief ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The meeting included discussion of policy reforms and areas in which the two governments are cooperating to deliver high quality development assistance to the people of Armenia. Topics included ways to promote democratic governance, fight corruption, properly respond to the issue of Avian Influenza and support programs benefiting Armenia's educational system. The two sides also discussed the Millennium Challenge Account program and previewed plans for the upcoming signing ceremony of Armenia's MCA compact that will take place this spring in Washington, D.C.
