Filmmaker Harutyun Khachatryan has kicked off the 10th Golden Apricot International Film Festival (GAIFF) in Yerevan's Opera and Ballet Theater, with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, high-ranking officials, diplomats and well-known cultural workers attending.

Legendary singer Charles Aznavour, who was given Parajanov Thaler award, and film director Artavazd Peleshian, whose 75th birthday will be celebrated during the festival, are among the GAIFF honorary guests.

Composer Aram Khachaturyan’s birth anniversary will also be marked.

The opening ceremony was followed by screening of Shoot the Piano Player movie directed by François Truffaut and starring Aznavour.

The festival will last till July 14.
