U.S. and Germany Ready to Support Free Election in Armenia
The international working group under the presidency of the OSCE Yerevan Office made a statement on the forthcoming parliamentary and presidential election in Armenia in 2007 and 2008. The group members welcomed the moves of the Armenian government targeted at clarification of the election rolls, training of the election committees and revision of the Electoral Code. The statement notes that the parliamentary and presidential election in Armenia in 2007 and 2008 will he held in accord with the adopted constitutional amendments. Holding of free and fair elections is Armenia's commitment to the international community, it says.

OSCE Ambassador in Yerevan Vladimir Pryakhin voiced hope that the OSCE and the Council of Europe will have the possibility to observe the parliamentary and presidential election in Armenia. For their part, German Ambassador to Armenia Heike Renate Peitsch and U.S. Ambassador John Evans said their countries are ready to render any support to the conduction of fair and transparent elections.
