Samsung has unveiled the world's first curved Ultra HD television sets at the IFA trade show, Digital Spy said.
The South Korean manufacturer's latest TV hardware comes in 55 and 65-inch variants, and offers a "more immersive viewing experience" than traditional displays.
"We introduced the world's first 'Curved UHD TV' at IFA 2013 to meet various consumer expectations waiting for next new generation TV technology," said Samsung's head of visual displays Hyun-suk Kim.
"This will be a milestone opening a new era of next generation TV by invigorating UHD TV Realising curved UHD TV is more difficult to produce than curved OLED TV due to the panel characteristics.
"The world's first curved UHD TV proved Samsung's unbeatable position in TV technology once again."
Samsung says that it will release alternative-sized versions of its Ultra HD TVs based on customer demand in each market.
As Digital Trends reported, if Samsung was light on details regarding its latest LED-based Ultra HD televisions, it was downright secretive about its plans to bring an OLED-based Ultra HD television to market.
Samsung did little more than to suggest such a TV did exist and then encourage conference-goers to come check out it out at its booth. Since the company didn’t show off the TV at the press conference, it’s safe to assume the TV is very much in the prototype stage at this point, and not something Samsung wants to move around a whole lot.
