Lionsgate nabs “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn” Robin Williams comedy

Lionsgate has acquired The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, a film starring Robin Williams as a man who finds out he only has 90 minutes to live, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Written by Daniel Taplitz and directed by Phil Alden Robinson, the film also stars Mila Kunis, Melissa Leo, Peter Dinklage and Hamish Linklater.

Landscape Entertainment’s Bob Cooper and Tyler Mitchell produced the film with Daniel J. Walker of Force Majeure. The film was financed by MICA Entertainment and Vedette Finance. Cargo Entertainment is handling foreign sales; WME brokered the domestic deal.

Shot on location in Brooklyn, NY last fall, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn follows a man (Williams) who is told by his doctor, Dr. Sharon Gill (Kunis), that he only has 90 minutes to live. He storms out of the hospital, panics and races through Brooklyn in an attempt to right all of the wrongs in his life. His doctor, meanwhile, scrambles to find him and get him into surgery.

Lionsgate is planning a day-and-date theatrical/VOD specialty release, according to the announcement.

“We are thrilled that Lionsgate has come aboard for The Angriest Man in Brooklyn,” says Robinson. “The film features incredible performances by Robin and Mila and a great supporting cast. We cannot wait to share it with audiences across the country. The film pushes us all to face the hypothetical question, “What is important in your life? What is important to you?”
