Nike unveiled its new ultra high-tech Magista football boot in Spain Thursday, March 6, according to Digital Spy.

The sportswear designer claims the boots feature a distinctive silhouette and Nike Flyknit technology for unprecedented fit, feel and control.

The footwear comes ahead of the World Cup and follows four years of research and development from Nike Sport Research Lab. Barcelona's Andrés Iniesta and German midfielder Mario Gotze have also provided feedback on the boots.

"With Magista, we've designed a shoe that feels like an extension of the player's body," Nike's vice president of sport performance footwear Phil McCartney said.

"This isn't a boot that just goes on your foot, it's a boot that works with your foot. By eliminating distractions, players are free to unlock their potential and creativity."

The Magista boot is said to give players a second-skin sock-like feel and uses a mid-cut Dynamic Fit Collar for a more locked-down fit.

Iniesta, who unveiled the boots earlier today, said: "The fit of this boot is so unique that I don't think about it when I'm wearing it.

"It allows me to move the way I need to instinctively and with more confidence."

The Magista comes after Adidas showed off its Samba Primeknit football boots, which are knitted from heel-to-toe.

The boots will be available for pre-order at Nike.com on April 29 and to purchase from May 22.
