Azeri passengers panic as plane on Kiev-Tbilisi route lands in Yerevan

The aircraft of Ukrainian airlines operating a Kiev-Tbilisi flight with 25 Azerbaijanis on board urgently landed in Yerevan airport, causing panic among Azeri passengers.

As one of the passengers on the flight, a member of the All-Ukrainian organization of Azerbaijani youth Safarali Babayev noted, “all Azerbaijanis who were on the plane protested against it. We have said that Armenia is a hostile country, and cannot land in Yerevan. We have offered to fly to Ganja. But the pilot landed the plane in Yerevan," he said, according to Azeri media.

According to Babayev, the Ukrainian pilot offered Azerbaijanis to leave the plane and said that their safety is ensured by international conventions.

As Babayev further remarks, the passengers were “forced” to leave the plane. They were suggested to pass passport control and take a bus to Tbilisi. The passengers got in touch with the Azeri embassy in Kiev where they were forbidden to provide their passports for the passport control. After spending several hours at the airport they were taken to Tbilisi by plane.
