Following his impressive performance in this summer's "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation", Rebecca Ferguson (II)" has become one of the most sought-after actresses. As AceShowbiz reports citing Deadline, the Swedish actress is in talks to join Michael Fassbender in "The Snowman". At the same time, she is also in contention to take a major role in Ridley Scott's "Alien: Paradise Lost".
Tomas Alfredson ("Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") will direct the crime thriller which is based on Jo Nesbo's detective novel of the same name. Martin Scorsese, who was eyed to direct, is tapped as executive producer. Meanwhile, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce along with Robyn Slovo and Piodor Gustafsson.
"The Snowman" centers on a detective investigating the mysterious disappearance of a woman, leading him to eventually believe he may be hunting a serial killer. Fassbender is on board to portray Harry Hole, an Oslo detective described as a brilliant loose cannon. Official U.S. release date has yet to be announced, but the movie is expected to arrive in 2017.
Ferguson is also eyed for "Prometheus" sequel, which was recently confirmed to be called "Alien: Paradise Lost", but hasn't entered talks yet. Fassbender and Noomi Rapace will be back as the humanoid robot David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw respectively. In the upcoming alien film, Fassbender and Rapace's characters will be joined by "a group of travelers." With the script penned by Michael Green, "Alien: Paradise Lost" is eying a 2017 release date.
