Armenia may start shrimp production

Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan met Friday, November 27 with Iran’s newly appointed ambassador to Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajjadi.

At the meeting, Karapetyan hailed the recently developed ties in the sector of agriculture between the two countries.

The Minister further stressed the importance of development of bilateral cooperation by establishing anti-hail and dripping irrigation systems, as well as collaboration in farming, especially sheep and poultry breeding, the possibilities of creating joint greenhouse farms.

Also, the parties discussed the possibility of starting shrimp production in Armenia, with the prospect of exporting the product to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

The ambassador, in turn, suggested bilateral cooperation in the sectors of flower and seed production, as well as tree breeding.
