Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for "Barbershop: The Next Cut". Ice Cube is back as Calvin, who runs his barbershop in the South Side of Chicago. His longtime crew including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer) are still there, but this time they tackle greater issues than people may expect, AceShowbiz said.
It's 10 years after the events in "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" and the shop has expanded to include a beauty shop complete with some ladies. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, they have to face gang violence that threatens their neighborhood. "We'll never give up. Your father will be proud of everything that's going on here," Eddie tells Calvin.
In addition to Cube and Entertainer, Eve and Queen Latifah are back reprising their respective roles. Nicki Minaj, Common and Tyga also appear in the third installment of the "Barbershop" movie series. Directed by Malcolm D. Lee ("The Best Man Holiday"), "The Next Cut" will be released in North America on April 15.
Lee previously shared some interesting details about the movie, saying that it had a fascinating connection to movie history. "In a lot of ways, when I was reading the script and doing research for the movie and figuring out my angle on it, it really reminded me a lot of 'Boyz n the Hood'," Lee said. "It's ironic that Ice Cube is in the Furious Styles role that Laurence Fishburne played back in the day. It was interesting to have that parallel. That's the big emotional spine of the movie."
