The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs are considering another visit to the South Caucasus region in the near future, the U.S. Co-chair said Wednesday, February 3, APA reports.

According to James Warlick, the visit aims to determine further steps following the meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents in Switzerland.

“We still believe that such dialogue is necessary to reach a lasting peace,” Warlick noted.

President Serzh Sargsyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev met on December 19 in Bern, Switzerland.

The Presidents’ private talks lasted a little more than an hour: the meeting was held behind closed doors, with the Co-chairs and Foreign Ministers joining the leaders afterwards.

The two Presidents met against the backdrop of escalation along the contact line between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
