Arman Tatoyan to serve as Armenia's new Human Rights Defender

Deputy Minister of Justice Arman Tatoyan was elected Armenia's Human Rights Defender following a National Assembly vote on Tuesday, February 23.

The Ombudsman's oath-taking ceremony was held afterwards.

Former Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan submitted a letter of resignation on January 12.

Thanking all his colleagues for collaboration, the public advocate expressed hope that the state and the society will always prioritize protection of human rights.

Andreasyan assumed his responsibilities as Human Rights Defender of Armenia on March 3, 2011.
