Date of launching Iran-Armenia gas pipeline to be determined this week
Armenian Minister of Energy Armen Movsissyan will depart for Iran at the end of this week, where the date of launching the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline will be determined. "In Iran we will decide when particularly the gas pipeline will be launched-in March or April," stated the minister to RFE RL. Speaking on the possible participation of Russian side in the gas pipeline, A. Movsissyan stated, "First, until we finish all construction works and guarantee period exploitation no such questions will be raised." In his words, it can take 3-6 months "after which we can talk about passing the management of the pipeline." Armen Movsissyan stressed that in a year or two Iran-Armenia gas pipeline will become an issue of energy security of Armenia: "In a year or two we will have a possibility to increase the volume of exporting gas from South till the volume of exporting gas from North."
