Turkish MPs to try to hinder adoption of Armenian Genocide resolution
Three separate delegations of Turkish parliamentarians are going to depart for Washington in order to urge their American colleagues not to adopt the Armenian Genocide resolution. Delegations, which include representatives from ruling and opposition parties, will visit the U.S.A. at the end of February and beginning of March, since discussions on the resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives are scheduled for April. During his last visit to the United States Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul called the Congress not to adopt the resolution, otherwise, in his words, the American-Turkish relations can be exposed to serious risk. It is also worth mentioning that this year adoption of Armenian Genocide resolution is quite possible, since Democrats, who make majority in the Congress, are in favor of the document, RFE RL reports.
