As a result of strained relations between Berlin and Ankara following the Bundestag’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Germany is going to freeze business investments in Turkey, Die Welt said in an article.

Among reasons behind deteriorating economic relations between the countries the newspaper cites the dispute over the Bundestag's resolution on the Genocide, media crackdown in Turkey and the latter’s policy in addressing the Kurdish issue.

If the German-Turkish economic relations are put under pressure, it would turn out a more dangerous problem for Turkey than for Germany, the newspaper says.

Germany is Turkey's most important economic partner worldwide with a volume of bilateral trade of nearly 37 billion euros last year. For Germany, however, the country only ranks 17th on the list of the largest exporting and importing partners, the newspaper notes.
