Member of Armenia’s national chess team, grandmaster Sergei Movsesian won the Czech Open in Teplice.
Scoring 7 points out of the possible 9, Movsesian won the tournament with additional coefficients.
180 chess players, including 17 grandmasters from 30 countries participated in the open.
Born in 1978 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Movsesian played for the Czech Republic for most of his career. Later he represented Slovakia which offered him citizenship. On December 30, 2010 Movsesian started to represent his ancestral country of Armenia. He was a member of the gold medal-winning Armenian team at the 2011 World Team Chess Championship in Ningbo.
Movsesian is fluent in 9 languages.
