Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian climbed 3 spots in FIDE ranking (9th to 6th) following his success at Grenke Chess Classic.

The grandmaster tied the final 7th round game against Fabiano Caruana (U.S.) to top the tournament with 5.5 ponts. The world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) and Caruano came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
