MOSCOW HARSHLY CRITICIZED IDENTIFICATION OF STRUGGLE AGAINST INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM WITH SITUATION IN NAGORNO KARABAKH
The attempts to identify the struggle against international terrorism with the situation in Nagorno Karabakh can only complicate the state of affairs in the region and thus should be flatly denied. Russian security council secretary Vladimir Rushailo stated it in the course of the meeting with his Armenian counterpart, defense minister Serge Sargsian in Moscow. In Rushailo's words, Moscow intends to achieve such a solution of the Karabakh problem, which will lead to a comprehensive and fair settlement and will fit the interests of the two neighbor peoples. Vladimir Rushailo and Serge Sargsian exchanged opinions on the situation in the Caucasus, as well as on Armenian-Russian bilateral cooperation including interaction within the framework of the Treaty on Collective Security. The parties paid much attention to developing interaction mechanisms within the "Caucasian four" with participation of the Armenian, Azeri, Georgian and Russian security council secretaries. In particular, the necessity to hold measures aiming at strengthening confidence in the Transcaucasia and creating a favorable background for solving acute problems in the region was stressed.
