Sargsyan-Gul meeting to become unprecedented and important event, Demoyan says
A meeting between Armenian and Turkish Presidents will become an unprecedented and important event for bilateral relations and for the entire region, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute Hayk Demoyan told a news conference today.
"Considering advantages and disadvantages of the visit, the Turkish side doesn't hurry to officially inform of Gul's consent to arrive in Yerevan, a move that will convey an impulse to normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations," he said, excluding any possibility of opening of the border after a presidential meeting.
"Serzh Sargsyan has done right to invite his Turkish counterpart to Armenia. It will be a good chance for both countries," Demoyan said.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met today with Turkish President's Envoy Unal Cevikoz, who arrived in Yerevan to discuss the details of Abdullah Gul's forthcoming visit to Armenia on September 6.
