Pashinyan: Azerbaijan sough to occupy Armenian position

Azerbaijan's attempted infiltration sought to occupy an Armenian border position known as Anvakh (Fearless), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, July 16

The post is located in the direction of the villages of Movses and Aygepar, which came under fire overnight after the 100-member Azerbaijani group were thwarted back to their positions, Pashinyan said.

The Armenian side has suffered no losses, whereas Azerbaijan has both deaths and injuries, the Armenian Defense Ministry said earlier.

On July 12, Azerbaijan launched two failed infiltration attempts on the border with Armenia whose troops immediately identified the saboteurs and thwarted them back to their positions. Since the next morning, the Azerbaijani military has been firing on the Armenian positions, also using large caliber grenade launchers and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements. Four servicemen of the Armenian army have been killed, 20 others have been wounded, while Azerbaijan has reported 11 deaths.
